Top Surgery
Top Surgery is the most common gender-affirming surgery performed for those seeking masculinization. Our surgeons perform both Double Incision Top Surgery and Keyhole Top Surgery.
Drain-Free Top Surgery: For Double Incision patients, our surgeons do not routinely use drains. With the combination of not using drains and performing intercostal nerve blocks before starting surgery, our patients have a dramatic decrease in post-operative pain.
Top Surgery is offered by Dr. Crane, Dr. DeLeon and Dr. Mundinger in Austin, and by Dr. Lee in San Francisco.
Bottom Surgery
Our surgeons offer both the Metoidioplasty (Meta) or Phalloplasty (Phallo) procedures.
- Metoidioplasty creates a phallus from the hormonally-enlarged clitoris.
- Phalloplasty creates a phallus from a donor site, typically radial forearm (RFF Phalloplasty), anterolateral thigh (ALT Phalloplasty) and musculocutaneous latissimus dorsi (MLD Phalloplasty).
Urethroplasty (urethral lengthening), Vaginectomy (removal of vagina), and Scrotoplasty (creation of scrotum) are generally performed in conjunction with either Metoidioplasty or Phalloplasty, however you may elect to forego any these procedures. Penile implant placement is also optional.
Genital Masculinizing Surgery procedures are offered by Dr. Crane and Dr. Santucci in Austin, and by Dr. Celtik in San Francisco.
For Metoidioplasty and Phalloplasty, we follow the current World Professional Association of Transgendered Health (WPATH) guidelines. Get more information about the Surgery Referral Letter requirements here
