Transfeminine Top Surgery

What is Transfeminine Top Surgery?

Transfeminine top surgery, formerly known as MTF top surgery, refers to procedures designed to create a more feminine presenting chest and upper body to alleviate gender dysphoria in transfeminine individuals. The most popular procedure and often the initial surgery, is breast augmentation. Other chest contouring procedures such as liposuction and fat grafting, are also available.

Crane Center surgeons are at the forefront of transfeminine top surgery techniques and will help you select options to maximize your desired results.

Transfeminine Top Surgery Procedures

Breast Augmentation

Transgender breast augmentation is the procedure to create breasts for transgender women. Surgeons insert either silicone or saline implants or fat grafted from other parts of the body via incisions around the nipple, under the breast or under the armpit. The procedure takes only a couple of hours and recovery time can be as little as 2 weeks with some patients returning to work in as little as 7 days.

Your doctor will discuss various options with you, including implant material and size as well as the best incision technique based on your body type.

Chest Contouring

Through various techniques including liposuction and fat grafting, it is possible to create a more feminine contour to the torso to better align with your gender identity. Brachioplasty is a procedure to remove excess skin around the arms for a more feminine appearance. Abdominoplasty is a procedure to tighten and contour the appearance of the lower torso area.  Learn more about additional upper body feminization procedures performed by our surgeons.
